Is it just me, or does everyone else's eyes go funny after reading MetaFilter for some time?
I've noticed sometimes it makes everyone else's eyes look a darker shade of green.

Sorry for the snark. It was offered with the best intentions. If MetaFilter's color schema hurt your eyes, maybe try the plaintext option on your Preferences page.

Yeah, mine do. But they do that if I look at any page/site too long.

Try setting the font to a larger size.

Well, the colour scheme on MetaTalk is not bad itself, but the one on MetaFilter hurts!
I will try plain-text. Thanks.

I get it sometimes too, usually when borrowing someone's PC that has their colors too bright. I basically get an "after image" when looking at plain white sites after reading mefi for some time.

It's physiological. A rods & cones thing. It's the same phenomenon that makes rockers vomit after 30 seconds of watching the Blue Man Group.

The only "problem" with plain text is that everything is the same color scheme and when you've been viewing things in plain text for oh, YEARS now, you sometimes forget what people are talking about by "in the blue" or "in the green."
(Then again, you might not have this problem as most people are smarter than I am in the memory department. I'm kinda not so bright.)

Who reads MetaFilter? I thought it was just a race to see who could post the most sarcastic comments the fastest, like some weird hipster gameshow, Who Wants to be a MetaFillionaire?"

Pft. Screw anyone who isn't already a MetaFillionaire. Reality internet is already piddling to the lcd.
Guilty as charged.

Along the same lines of suing tobacco companies for making cigarettes that blow out your lungs and gun manufacturers for making guns that shoot out your stomach and fast food restaurants for making fast food that hardens up your arteries, I wonder whether the class action lawsuit of 2020 will be against web designers for making webpages that are hurty on the eyes.

I didn't think this was "Who Wants to be a MetaFillionaire" so much as a constant uphill struggle to prove one's superior wit and intelligence to avoid being voted off "Weakest-Link" style.
