Compilation Album update November 28, 2006 9:00 AM Subscribe
Now that the Metafilter Compilation Album is actually shipping, might it warrant a sidebar mention on the front page? I'll put a little more inside.
There is an ad for it at the top right of the front page already.

There's a big image promoting it directly above the sidebar.

I'm seeing an actual largish-thumbnail image of it on the front page, over on the sidebar side, image being a link to www.meficomp.com.

Yeah, I would not complain about sidebarring at all, but I wasn't going to ask because Matt has already hooked us up with a cherry ad position.

Least-trafficed area? Hell, MetaTalk is always the first of the metas that I click on in my RSS aggregator. Flameouts and callouts and assgrabbery, etc.

Sheesh, apparently I was so focused on poring over the sidebar to make sure I wasn't posting redundantly that I missed that (now) glaringly obvious ad. Or perhaps I've autotrained myself to ignore advertising images. Or perhaps I am simply dumb. Feel free to discuss this amongst yourselves. Meanwhile, does anyone know what to do about excessive hand-sweating?

In the old days, like last month and before, this is when ceiling cat would appear to watch everyone masturbating.

Next time for volume 2, I say online mp3/FLAC only. I can setup a paypal thing where the whole album is $5 and we don't have to worry about printing costs or shipping at all. We can still master it and have nice artwork, but we won't have to go through the pain of delivering physical media.

Also, we are masochists. O Lord mathowie, please grant us our indulgences, and may jessamyn be awake to delete my eventual flameout before it is yet ablaze.

I can't wait for this to arrive. What's the estimated arrival date for UK copies?

I have been informed by one UKite that the time span of delivery from the US via standard mail is "between 3 days and 3 weeks."
So, uh, between 3 days and 3 weeks. I'm going through mailing this week; already have older pre-orders flying, working to get caught up with the more recent stuff now.

No. I'll feel ripped off if I don't receive a physical object. On the other hand, if the download is free, I'll assume the music crap. (Yes, I'm serious.)

My CD just arrived!
Is there a way I can share the song titles/artists with CDDB or something so everyone who plays the CD on his or her computer doesn't have to re-enter that information? What genre would you suggest I give it?

I found a "Submit CD Track Names" feature in iTunes. I think I'll go with "Alternative" for a genre.

By all means, go for it. I tried and failed to do this via WMP last week, and realize now that I never got back to it, which is a shame—I wanted the very first happy customer to pop in their CD and have everything pull correctly off the bat.
I'd request that you list the artist names as the mefite names as listed on the back cover, for simplicity and consistency's sake.

Yes, I used the back cover, though I capitalized the first letter of the names.
