Searching for Deleted Posts November 4, 2006 10:22 PM Subscribe
To help avoid multiple re-posts, wouldn't it be helpful to be able to find the deleted posts in a search? At least it would be a little easier to find than the single instance post.
I'm pretty sure deleted ones show up on the posting page auto-search.

I think tag searches find deleted posts unless the tags have been cleared out, which we almost never do.

One way to halt both double posts and double comments (and comment corrections) might be to have a sandbox page - the live preview isn't always accurate.

Maybe a sandbox would've helped me replace the word "halt" with "reduce"...

You should probably just develop a flawless eidetic recall/photographic memory.

There is a sandbox called "the preview button".

can that "preview button sandbox" as closely resemble the current thread page construction as possible? there are some glaring differences between the preview page and the original thread page. for example, the post title doesn't show up when previewing a comment.

Sweet, thanks Stavros, that is an excellent tip.
Mathowie, doesn't that only work if the URL is the exact same? Blazecock posted the 1000 cards link that had been up twice before but it was on a new Geocities (snicker, snicker) site.
Jessamyn, the problem with tags is that a good number of members still don't make use of them (as I've found out on numerous occasions, sorry!).
I don't know, maybe the multiples aren't so bad since it gives a reactionary contingent something to post about before the threads are shut down. Nah.
