Yes Eideteker, and if it kept track of threads for the 7 months required in this case, or in general 12 months, that would be wonderful. But, you know, it doesn't.. Hence the update.

Wait, so if I post a comment to an askme thread that's six months old, that comment won't show up on anyone's recent comments page? WTF is that?

I believe the recent comments only shows threads *you* have participated in in the last two weeks -- so if you haven't posted a comment in that six month old thread within the two week mark, you won't see new comments.
now, if you'd posted the thread, you'd have the option of enlarging the activity window.

Well, it is a compromise. Here is my most recent head scratching about it.
So, if a thread is active more than 30 days after you were last there, or if you have been participating in more than 10 active threads across the site, you will probably miss something.
There is an off-site service for tracking comments that people keep suggesting, I can't find the name at the moment.
