Searching for Deleted Posts September 3, 2006 9:40 PM Subscribe
Dare I ask this but due to the deleted post in this MeFi post being so damn funny I'm wondering if there's a way to search for just deleted posts on MeFi?
There was this, though it appears to have been abandoned almost as quickly as it was created,

You mean deleted comments? You can find them but you can't see them, so there's not much point.

Might want to try that in yahoo also, it supposedly returns better results here.

I'm pretty sure that once a comment has been deleted, it's gone forever. The rapidity that they are deleted means that there's only the slightest whiff of a chance that they'd be cached by yahoo or google.

There is a Greasemonkey extension that inserts a notation for deleted threads right into the main page. In a red font you see Deleted thread: 54476, which you can click on to see the deleted post. I was surprised to see how much cruft Matt has to axe some days.
Deleted comments within a thread are gone forever, I believe.

Trying to do deleted threads as a manual blog seems more than a little silly. Just make an automatic script.
