If it is that important to add a comment to a deleted thread, just write directly on your monitor with a marker. (Sharpie markers seem to work best. )

Unprovoked, but surely not off-topic.
I am all for making sure religion gets all the scientific scrutiny it deserves. Any merit Christianity has will show through in its own time. Light has always been the best disinfectant.
I actually thought his description of people who want to post in closed threads was pretty funny, and in no way warranted an attack of Christianity itself.

I figured that it might be a way to avoid long MeTa threads which eventually end in a flame out. Instead we could keep them in the thread. Maybe some sort of visual indicator could let us know that the thread was in "Flame" mode. Plus, some threads just need extra comments. Sort of a hidden MeFi underground where snarkiness could be contained and harnessed.(And possibly used to heat our homes.)

Though I am fairly used to it by now, I'm still amazed every once in a while by the extent to which the dios strawman has diverged from any relationship with the actual comments made by dios.

However, I must take issue with the statement of yours that I've quoted. That statement portrays an image of dios that simply isn't accurate. I can't find a single religious comment made by dios in his recent commenting history, much less a "constant[]" record of such comments. Can you?
I wouldn't have made this comment if there were not a steady stream of similar comments about dios, a mythical man-beast who unfailingly defends the present administration, kow-tows to the religious right, and reportedly dines of the carcasses of liberal babies. I've not seen such a poster here, as least not one that goes by the name dios.

Three steps to joy:
1. Make copies of deleted threads.
2. Post them to your own website (maybe called deletafilter.com)
3. Allow people to leave comments.

It would stop appearing on the front page. Duh.
In other words it keeps the front page clear of Officially-Deemed-Inappropriate threads, while calming the growing number of people who feel that their conversations are constantly being cut off on a whim.

Smart Dalek, you had me there for a second. I refreshed, saw "This thread closed...", and was about to swoop in here and post a smug comment about how I got the last post in before the close. (I wouldn't actually have posted a comment, of course, since I couldn't have, but I would have pretend-posted it in my head and felt smug for a bit, and then the smile would have faded when I realised that I have nobody here to share my victory with.
