ok well that did say "more inside" inbetween a and in but I put it in brackets so it didn't post.

If we're going to start posting to MeTa every time there's a CF error ... well, let's just say there's going to be a massive increase in everyones' contribution indexes.

The relevant bit was this: The request has exceeded the allowable time limit Tag: CFQUERY
It ran for over 30 seconds before submitting to the database, then failed. I need to work on friendly "try again" messages, but this is a sort of temp kind of problem that happens from time to time.
