Posting a new thread about Katrina October 19, 2005 12:04 PM Subscribe
When posting a new MetaFilter thread, the suggestion to think twice about new hurricane Katrina posts is probably no longer required.
I have been noticing that too. But before you edit that page Matt, please put a link to my favorite pony on the front page.

So... it'll be fine for me to post about ongoing Hurricane Katrina stuff? Cool.

While we're suggesting changes to the text in the blue box on the posting page, Matt, is it maybe time to add a comment there about avoiding starting discussions on the wrong foot with blatant editorializing? You've mentioned you agree with the sentiment more than once, as I recall. Maybe adding it to the posting page prominently might reduce the amount of cleanup you and jessamyn have to do in overly snippy threads stemming from unnecessarily provocative posts?

mediareport: that will prove effective. it's not that people don't care about the rules; it's that they don't know the rules!

A "No asshats" statement would be nice. Ass-sweaters, however, should be tolerated.

It just prevented me from posting this. It's cool but, not necesarily worthy of an FPP. So good.

I restrained myself from posting this. Probably a good thing, but it's hard to stop from sharing yet more info on the obtuseness of Brownie.
