I’m very fortunate that I’m the first comment, as I have a bit of a contingency to report here in NY.

Short, shitty version of a very convoluted emergency: Last night, I had to cancel my airline ticket for my upcoming trip to San Francisco.

I’m not sure if you know, but I work for a miniscule non-profit, and it is just myself, the President, and a consultant.

When the President approved my vacation dates back in July (and again when I booked my ticket in August) he hadn’t yet been invited to a meeting involving the proposal of a new shoah memorial museum in the midwest. He agreed to the meeting, and it is my duty to now create (before this tuesday, via macromedia director) a very complex media presentation drawing from our visual arts library. It’s just impossible for me to go, as his symposium is a very big deal. I mean, I *could* visit, but I’d return to NY most certainly unemployed. The President made it very clear that I need to be here for this preparation.

Regardless, I’m so disappointed and upset. I was looking forward to meeting all of you. I hope you still have the meet-up and toast to my sorry ass scrambling my entire weekend to parse images into a glorified power point presentation.

I'm so sorry to you, caitlinb, for all the preparations you've made, and all the energy you've put towards spearheading the meet-up. You didn't have to do any of that, and I really do appreciate it all. And I'm equally sorry to scarabic for all the back-end arrangements he helped me with when I was planning my holiday.

Anyway, I propose we locals meet anyway, and dedicate this meetup to Ms Axur and her Protestant (hahaha, I crack me up) work ethic.

Awww... worst news of the day! We'll getcha out here another time. Maybe I'll start a fundraiser: gather enough donations to buy naxos a ticket and I'll be sweet as a cupcake on the site for a week.
