My first MetaTalk post, and alas, it's a Friday afternoon pony request for the queue. I think it would be nice to be able to filter my Contact Activity to exclude activity on threads with specific tags. The election threads (yes, of course that's what I'm talking about) have been a lifesaver, and I'm spending most of my MetaFilter time on them. But my Contact Activity is also completely taken over by highly-favorited comments in those threads, usually topical but transient, and I'd like to be able to see what else is happening on MeFi. And I think others might like this feature too. [more inside]

Since the megathreads are so long and cause problems with mobile browsers occasionally reloading the page, I've found it easiest to "checkpoint" my place by occasionally clicking on the timestamps so that my browser will update the URL to have the anchor of that comment. That way if the page is accidentally reloaded it will go back somewhere near the right location. If I'm unlucky enough to click on a comment that is deleted due to moderation, the anchor goes away and I must endlessly scroll hoping to find where I left off. Is it possible for the anchor tags for deleted posts be preserved into either the next comment or maybe the [moderators comment] that removed it?

Comrades, I think it's time to revisit the idea of allowing users to post multiple AskMe questions in a week. In the past I have gone on record as being against this, but upon further reflection I realize it was merely kneejerk, reactionary fear of change. Let us embark together down this unknown road. Hey mods and fellow MeFites. Apologies if this has been discussed recently but I didn't find anything. I have two questions: Can we make it easier to find the Mefi Wiki? And is it okay to add a page of links to groups like Indivisibleguide.org so there's a central list of progressive activism resources? [more inside]

Hey, you folks who know how to do such things… Is it possible to create a Greasemonkey script that would strip everything from a thread except the external html links? After reading this AskMe, I was thinking for those short on time, it would be a pretty neat way to get a MeFi curated news feed. (obviously related to current political events, but I’m guessing this level of participation isn’t going away any time soon)

I've been pondering mating and dating recently, and one massive void I keep noticing — and missing — is all-text personals. I was, in fact, just thinking about this when I happened to pop over here, and suddenly it struck me: We have nearly all the elements of a well-rounded culture within a single Website here, ranging from music, to jobs, to IRL meet ups, to advice, to podcasts, to projects, to the discussion of articles. But nowhere do we make room for those who might be potentially interested in pairing off. Why not? [more inside]

On our user pages, the two numbers tracked for favorites count different things. The first one is a count of how many individual comments I have favorited. The second number is a count of how many times everyone has favorited a comment of mine. The description of that second number, "Favorited by others," is sort of misleading, I think, because it doesn't count individual comments the way the first number does. [more inside]

After a long day of reading the site on mobile while waiting for stuff, the request here to add a "Favorite this post" link to the "Who favorited this post" page (the one that comes up when you click the link with the number of people who favorited the post) made a lot of sense to me. [more inside]
